At Turnfurlong Junior School we aim to provide a rich and engaging curriculum that develops the whole child not just academically but socially.  Our core values as a school are woven throughout the curriculum by way of providing opportunities both within the core curriculum and through our local curriculum.  Our core curriculum is themed across each term for each year group and links are made between the subjects to make it more meaningful for the children.  However, this is only a part of our curriculum, as local curriculum opportunities for real life experiences are provided through enterprise, roles and responsibilities, pupil voice, community links alongside educational visits and visitors.  We have strong links with transition schools and to develop children for their next part of their educational journey.

We value the experiences and skills outdoor learning brings to our teaching and learning; a broad and meaningful curriculum can be enhanced through using the whole school environment, away from the classroom.  The opportunity to learn outside the classroom, when it supports teaching and learning and links within our curriculum, can provide some of the best learning and challenge possible. We believe that well planned, organised and supervised activities help all children to find out about themselves and their capabilities as a learner and a person.

Further information can be found on Year Group pages, Subject pages as well as information about our educational visits and wider curriculum.  If you have any further questions about the curriculum, please contact the school.

Each outdoor experience is fully inclusive to every child and we ensure frequent, continuous and meaningful opportunities are provided using the different areas of our school grounds alongside our external trips.
