Turnfurlong Junior School

School Parliament

At Turnfurlong Junior School we encourage pupils to take an active role in all areas of the school including leadership.  Throughout their time with us, children have the opportunity to be part of developing and improving their school, and have a platform to air their views. It is an excellent way to engage with pupils and encourage them to be involved in their school and the local community   There are a variety of roles which all play an integral part in the running of the school:

  • School Council
  • Eco-Council
  • House Captains
  • Sports Captains
  • Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO)
  • Peer Mediators (Buddies)
  • Librarians
  • Community Champions
  • Equalities Champions
  • Subject Champions

These roles develop children's speaking and listening skills, confidence and sense of responsibility.  They all meet regularly, set action plans for the year ahead and organise events linked to their action plans.
