Intent

At TJS, we value Art as an important part of the children’s entitlement to a rich and engaging curriculum.   Our intent is to ensure that all pupils have a range of opportunities to develop their skills in order to produce creative, imaginative work.    Children have the opportunity to explore the work of others and experiment with different creative ideas.  Children will become confident and proficient in a variety of techniques including drawing, painting, sculpting, collage and printing.  Children will also develop their knowledge of famous artists and designers and begin to make comparisons between their work.  They will develop  the interest and curiosity about art through carefully planned sequences of lessons offering skills progression, knowledge progression and offering children the opportunity to ask question and demonstrate their skills in a variety of ways.
